Shelly Anne Johnson(Representing Forsyth County)Shelley Johnson, Director of Forsyth County Senior Services, a department of Forsyth County Government that provides services to seniors, their families and caregivers. She is starting her seventh year at the center and under her leadership the department has opened a second center and is pursing and third center and a fulltime adult day program. Shelley previously worked with Legacy Link, Inc. the Area Agency on Aging in Gainesville for five years as the Manager of Non-Medicaid Programs and as agency Planner. In addition, she has experience in working at a crisis center and in the community health department of one of the largest health departments in Illinois.In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors for Forsyth County SALT (Senior and Lawmen Together, Inc.), and presently she serves as the Executive Director of AGE WELL Forsyth, Inc., and is instrumental in the formation of the Georgia Senior Center Association, and shares the Georgia delegate position to the National Institute of Senior Centers. In 2004, Forsyth County Senior Center received national certification from the Meals on Wheels Association of America, one of only five in the state of Georgia. Her past volunteer work includes resettling refugee families from Cambodia and Romania, working with a local nonprofit to insure local families in a subsidized housing development received food, clothing and gift packages for the various holidays. She was a foster parent for a number of years. Raised in the Chicago area, Shelley now lives in Forsyth County near her two children and two grandchildren. Shelley is a proud graduate of the Leadership Forsyth class of 2006. Shelley is also pleased to be a graduate of Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. back to list |
