Marilyn M. Woodruff

(Representing Stephens County)

Marilyn M. Woodruff has received a BA from Spelman College and a Masters in Education from the University of Georgia. She currently teaches at Stephens County Middle School and was named Teacher of the Year in 2000 by the local VFW. She has previously held positions with Social Services for the State of Georgia; served as Coordinator of Residential Services for North Georgia Mental Health; Coordinator of Residential Services for Stephens County Mental Health; Case Worker for Hart County DFCS and a Health Educator for the Gwinnett County Health Department.

Marilyn was a Stephens County Girl Scouts leader for 8 years, a member of the Action Community Team for a Drug Free Stephens County for 5 years that coordinated a community-wide Red Ribbon Campaign. She served on the Board of Directors for the Toccoa Soup Kitchen for 15 years and is serving on the Toccoa Literacy Council (7 years). Additional community service has been through the Parent Teacher Student Organization, Toccoa/Stephens County Board of Recreation and Leadership Toccoa/Stephens County. She is currently the president of Iota Psi Omega Chapter (Athens, GA) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and was named Soror of the Year (2005).

She is a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church were she serves as president of the Deaconess Board and director of the Vacation Bible School.
